In a nut shell, I'll help you...

"After several years of mystery symptoms that no one seemed to be able to pin down, Carly got it. She listened very carefully to what I had experienced, especially to details I thought were important that other providers hadn't. Using past tests and my detailed history she identified I was a experiencing high oxolate symptoms. It sounds complex which it is, but she just laid it out in simple terms and now I know what to do to reduce exposure and feel better."

Hi, my name is Carly Deacon

You just can’t handle the foods you used to. The flat and peaceful tummy is long gone and cutting out certain foods seems to help a bit, but you're not quite able to pinpoint which ones made you feel rotten --often leaving you with embarrassing gas that can clear a room or using the restroom too often or too infrequent.

You feel overwhelmed with information. Cut the carbs. Don't cut carbs? Eat lots of meat. But go vegan? Only eat organic? Don't drink milk, but don't have soy either. Eat 6 times a day, but don't eat this many calories. You just don't know what to believe anymore.

If so, you're in the right place

Like you I used to struggle through health problems of my own. I had always considered myself a healthy person; eating clean & healthy foods, moving my body, prioritizing sleep, and having a positive mindset.

Yet...

...slowly over the course of many months, I started to feel less and less well. Pulling myself out of bed in the morning became a huge achievement, and the symptoms started piling on from there.

Achieve mental clarity by uncovering what information out there is just marketing, what information is actually rooted in science and how to protect yourself from the never ending barrage of "health tips".

Feel healthier and more vibrant by identifying exactly what foods are causing your discomfort and (in many cases) how to re-introduce them back into your life without having the negative reaction.

Reclaim your energy and your life by finding which foods, nutrients, and lifestyle habits are best for YOU and your unique body chemistry, health history, and genetics. You'll never feel like your missing out on life again.

The 5 Steps to Feeling Better

I've already tried a gluten-free, dairy-free, paleo, or (fill-in-the-blank diet), and my symptoms haven’t changed. How is your approach different?

Many of these specialty diets are useful and helpful, however there tends to be deeper root cause issues that these plans can’t address, especially when chronic, complex health issues are involved.

What’s different is how I apply a functional approach. Functional essentially means highly individualized, which also means that what works for someone else typically won’t work for you in the same way.

I address all the other epigenetic factors that affect your health- sleep hygiene, movement, heart rate variability, parasympathetic nervous system training, environmental influence factors (light, EMFs, toxins, etc) and more. This brings a well rounded approach and allows you to create your OWN toolbox based off the tools I recommend that will work best for you.

Who I work with

Who I don't work with

People that are dedicated to making lasting changes to their lifestyle and will do what ever it takes to feel better, look better and live a more fulfilling life.

People that are looking
to have all their problems solved in an hour by eating just one type of food. There is no such thing as Magic Bullet.

What symptoms or issues do you work with?

I have the most experience in working with clients with digestive disorders (SIBO, IBS, fungal overgrowth, food sensitivities, parasite/bacterial infections), hormone dysfunction, neurological issues, and metabolic dysfunction. Regardless of my clients’ goals, the results typically include higher energy, deeper sleep quality, weight loss, clearer skin, fewer cravings, and reduction of digestive symptoms.

What does a consultation look like?

Our initial consultation is set up in 2 appointments. The first appointment is for me to get to know more about you, your health, and your goals. I tend to include a bit of education during our first appointment, but most of the time will be spent gathering information from you.

The point of this initial consultation is to get enough information for me to make the best recommendation on what kind of plan you need. The second appointment is when we go deep into your personalized plan
of  lifestyle changes and modifications, the science and research behind it all, and outlining our course moving forward (this includes testing).

How often do I have to see you for appointments?

This changes from client to client and is dependent on a number of things like; how acute your symptoms or condition is, your protocol recommendations, test results, etc.

We will assess this on an individual basis and ensure that it fits well into your needs and health goals.Generally, we will see you for an initial consultation in 2 parts, in which you will leave with a targeted “Epigenetics” (or lifestyle) plan.

Around a month later after testing has been completed and results received, we will have a second recommendations session to address the results and make changes as needed. From there, we typically catch-up monthly for a 3-6 monthly period of follow-up support.

Do I need to include laboratory testing as part of the process?

When it comes to addressing the root cause of your health issues, guessing is not the quickest or most efficient way to do this.

Testing is important because these results allow us to more accurately identify the root cause of your health concerns and assist us in fine tuning and personalizing your plan.

This will provide a drastically increased likelihood of positive results and get us to your health goals much faster than guessing and experimenting - which is always more costly.

I’ve done a lot of reading and research on nutrition; can you help me more than I already know?

There is a never-ending plethora of information regarding nutrition, lifestyle and environmental factors of health on the internet. Everything has a “good” and “bad” side, regardless of what you look at.

Some research tells you legumes are inflammatory due to lectins, and others tell you they’re an important component in feeding our microbiome. The difference is in the person eating such food, their internal/external environment, biochemical needs, nervous system state, emotional well being etc.

This can be a daunting practice for the average person. My approach is to integrate what I know to work from the research, with what will work best for you based on all the previous factors and tailor it as needed while we move through your healing protocol.

some of the accreditation I hold

I was clouded with brain fog, forgetfulness, chronic fatigue, mood swings and debilitating periods that left me in the fetal position with no relief outside of consistent pain killers.

Problem-free digestion was completely out of the picture; it didn’t seem to matter what I ate, I battled with constant bloating, abdominal pain and unformed stool. Despite working out and eating well, my weight started creeping up higher than it had ever been before, with no success in losing it.

Fad diets being all the rage, I jumped in fully to whatever I could- vegan, paleo, keto, high carb/low fat, low fat/high carb. I filled my bookshelf with programs written from practitioners, nutritionists, and anyone in the health world that made the slightest mention to any of my symptoms.

BUT...

I felt even more defeated, because so many people with similar symptoms went through these programs and found massive success, but I couldn’t.

What was wrong?

The problem was I was treating myself like I fit into a perfect box that one specific plan could fix.

Then...Everything completely changed in my life when I found functional medicine, epigenetics and Bio-individual Nutrition.

I finally realized just how unique I am, and how unique the root causes of my health struggles were. That was the answer- that were was no one program that I could fit into. I needed something entirely unique and personalized for my unique health issues.

Digging deep into the root causes of my issues (long term use of birth control pills, hidden gut infections, GI inflammation, hormonal imbalance/estrogen dominance and adrenal dysregulation) led me towards the path that was best for me. My path included specific nutritional protocols tailored to me (not fad diets) and consistent lifestyle changes that steadily moved me towards my health goals.

The results...(which is all that really matters)

My brain fog cleared up, my memory returned, periods became something I looked forward to (not kidding!), and the excess weight fell away.

Eating wasn’t this scary, complicated thing to obsess over anymore- it became something to truly be enjoyed.  Most importantly, I had my health and my life back.

I have access to advanced medical testing which allows me to pinpoint with accuracy what is happening and how to fix it

I have clinical experience in the functional medicine world and know how to identify causes of problem most others would gloss over

I look at the big picture.
Lifestyle and food are correlated and if you have mold issues, it wont matter what you eat, your symptoms will remain.
